Welcome to "Behind The Bonnies," a new GoBonnies.com series where we get to know the student-athletes at St. Bonaventure University. In this edition, we meet Bonnies sophomore Jack DeRose. 

Jack DeRose is perhaps more familiar with Bonnies Basketball than anyone else on the active roster as he grew up in Olean and was a star for Olean High during his high school career.  

Now he has a unique opportunity to play for his hometown team and is in his second season after walking on to the program last year. 

While at Olean High, he was a First Team All-League all-star as both a junior and a senior, averaging 16 points per game. He earned Big 30 First Team honors and helped OHS to a 2022 sectional title. While with the Huskies, he scored a career-high 41 points in a game and also set the school record for 3-pointers in a single game when he drained 12. He also played football, golf and ran cross country/track. 

Last year, he saw action in five games during his collegiate debut.  

What is your favorite pro sports team and who is your favorite athlete? New York Yankees and Aaron Judge 

What is your favorite memory playing your sport? Beating Loyola Chicago in double overtime during the A-10 Tournament last year. 

If you weren't playing your sport, what other sport would you most like to play? Golf 

What is your favorite class at SBU and why? Accounting because of Professor Bysiek 

What is the best part about being a part of your Bonnies team? Going through the work and grind everyday with my teammates 

What is your favorite quote from your Coach? "Steal some on the road protect home court." 

You can bring any four people to dinner, who are you inviting? Michael Jordan, Josh Allen, Drake, Adam Sandler 

If you could live inside one TV show/movie what would it be? The Office
