Women's Lacrosse Travels to Siena for Saturday Matinee

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Bonnies earned a 15-13 victory over Bucknell in their home opener Wednesday. 
  • Eight different Bonnies scored in the contest, including five with two or more goals. 
  • Sophomores Megan Schillinger and Brooke Piper had hat tricks while Jessica Notaro, Kassi Hogan, and Tori Nascimento all had two each. Rylee Gonzalez and Callie Kessler each added one to the Bonnies total as well.
  • Gonzalez's goal was the first of her career with the Bonnies. The sophomore transfer from Gardner Webb had three assists in the season opener at Akron. 
  • Kessler has now tallied a goal in two consecutive games for the first time in her career. She netted her first collegiate goal at Akron on Valentine's Day.
 
SOPHOMORE SURGE
Schillinger and Piper have been difference-makers in the Bonnies first two games. Schillinger, who has been the main draw taker for Bona's, recorded her first career hat trick against Bucknell while tallying six draw controls. At Akron, she had seven draw controls, the most of her career in a single game. Piper has been on fire offensively to start the 2024 season, scoring eight goals and an assist across two games. She has also had six draw controls, a caused turnover, and a ground ball in the same time frame. 
 
ALL-ROOKIE TEAM TANDEM
Brit Colangelo and Jessica Notaro return for their second year on the field for the Bonnies. They have followed up great rookie seasons with consistent production offensively and defensively after earning spots on the A-10's All-Rookie Team in 2023. Notaro two goals in each of the first two games for St. Bonaventure. Colangelo has been holding things down on the defensive end for the Brown and White causing three turnovers and picking up six groundballs.
 
BACK FOR MORE
The Bonnies return seven of the 10 leading scorers from 2023. McGovern, the Bonnies leading scorer in 2023, comes back for her third season. Senior Abby Hiltz who has the seventh most assists in program history joins McGovern along with sophomores Notaro, Piper, Schillinger, and Grace Hollenbeck as well as senior Kassi Hogan.
 
NEW YEAR, NEW FACES
SBU welcomes five newcomers to the squad this year, four freshman and one transfer. Ava Acuna, Katelyn Hicks, Olivia Peeler, and Jordan Murrell join as first year players. Rylee Gonzalez transfers in as a sophomore from Gardner Webb University. At GWU, she was second all-time in assists by a freshman (15) and tied for fourth in points by a first-year player (28).

SERIES HISTORY
Bona leads the all-time series 8-6 over the Saints. Bonaventure won each meeting from 2001-2013 before Siena took six out of the following seven contests. The last time the teams met in 2023 Siena earned a 14-12 victory at the Marra Athletics Complex. Notaro and Abby Hiltz each had four goals in the game, but Siena surged in the fourth quarter to take home their third victory in a row over the Bonnies. 
 
ABOUT SIENA 
The Saints opened 2024 with two ranked opponents in No. 14 Johns Hopkins and No. 17 Army West Point. Johns Hopkins took down the Saints 17-9. Siena had the upper hand over Army, taking a 12-11 victory. Siena fell in their most recent contest to Dartmouth, 15-8. 
 
Taryn Asselin and Kelly Logue lead the Saints offense with 10 points apiece. In the cage, graduate student Sabrina Krasner has taken all the minutes, posting a14.33 goals against average with a .394 save percentage.
