ST. LOUIS – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team dropped an 83-61 decision vs. Saint Louis Sunday afternoon.
The Billikens jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter, using a 9-0 run to take a 21-8 advantage.
It was more of the same in the second quarter as the Billikens outscored the Bonnies, 25-8, in the period.
An 18-2 run was the difference in the second quarter, but Isabellah Middleton and Taylor Napper were able to chip away at the deficit with a basket apiece and the end of the half.
The Bonnies (4-23, 1-5 A-10) looked to battle back in the second half, opening the third a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Saint Louis (12-17, 7-9 A-10), however, was able to match the Bonnies basket-for-basket, maintaining its double-digit lead.
The hosts grew their cushion to as many as 28 in the fourth quarter and never looked back.
Middleton and Napper both posted new season-highs for the Brown and White. Middleton finished with 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting while Napper tallied 16 points on a perfect 8-for-8 form the floor.
Kyla McMakin led all scorers with 30 points while Peyton Kennedy added 23 points for the Billikens.
The Bonnies are back in action Wednesday on the road at Massachusetts. Tip is slated for 6:00 p.m.
