Bonnies Come Up Short on Senior Day; SBU Earns No. 7 Seed in Atlantic 10 Tournament

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Visiting Saint Louis rained on the Senior Day parade for St. Bonaventure and the Bonnies playing in their final home game, 73-65.

With the result of Saturday's regular season finale slate around the conference, the Bonnies have earned the No. 7 seed in this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament and will play the winner of La Salle/George Washington at Barclays Center in Wednesday's second round. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. on USA Network.

St. Bonaventure wraps the regular season 18-12 overall and 9-9 in A-10 play.

Mika Adams-Woods and Moses Flowers, two fifth-year players suiting up for the last time in the Reilly Center, posted 17 and 15 points respectively.

Saturday brought another up-and-down performance that saw the Bonnies dig an early hole as they opened the game 4-for-16 from the floor as Saint Louis built an early 22-12 advantage.

The Billikens (12-19, 5-13) led 26-21 at intermission and came out of halftime flying for a 43-32 lead with 14:24 to play.

That's when the Bona rollercoaster headed upward as the Bonnies stormed back with a 12-2 run, closing within 45-44 just three minutes later as Assa Essamvous drained a corner three.

Saint Louis slammed the breaks on the Bonnies rally, however, extending the lead back to 61-51 with 6:38 showing on the clock.

The Bonnies then had another spurt, breaking off seven straight points to get back within 61-58.

And so it seemed like the Bonnies would get a storybook sendoff for their seniors following a fastbreak layup from Woods following his steal with 4:08 to play as Bona trailed by only a bucket.

The final media timeout of the day seemed to stall Bona's momentum, however, and Gibson Jimerson's trey out of the break pushed the visitors' lead back to six.

SBU would never get closer.

Saint Louis dominated on the glass with a 43-26 advantage, and second chance points for Bradley Ezewiro made it an eight-point game; he drew the foul and made the free throw to complete a three-point play that effectively put the game on ice.

Terrance Hargrove Jr. had 17 points for Saint Louis while Larry Hughes and Jimerson both had 15. Cian Medley posted seven points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
