The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team looks to get back in the win column as they travel to Virginia for an Atlantic 10 game against George Mason Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies suffered their first home loss of the season last Saturday at the hands of Saint Joseph's. The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter, propelling them to the 16 -7 victory.
Brooke Piper led the way for St. Bonaventure with three goals, her fifth hat trick of the season.
MAJOR MILESTONES
Graduate goalkeeper
Ashley Herrick reached 500 career saves in Saturday's game with Saint Joe's. Herrick becomes the fourth Bonnie to reach the milestone, joining Katy Jensen (738), Morgan Conroy (630), and Eboni Preston (540). The Reno, Nevada native is the SBU leader in games started in goal with 53.
NOTABLES
- Junior Fiona McGovern is six points away from breaking into the top-10 on the Bonnies all-time points leaderboard. Currently, her 133 career points in 45 games played is 12th behind Katie Hurley (134) and Katelyn Faas (138).
- Senior Abby Hiltz has passed Nicole Motondo, '06 (47) on the Bona all-time assists leaderboard with 51. Hiltz is now fifth behind Gabrielle Bradley who had 57 helpers from 2015-2018.
- Brit Colangelo is ranked 19th among Division I players in caused turnovers per game (1.93). She has 27 in 14 games, surpassing her total from 2023 of 25.
- Megan Schillinger has led the away in the draw circle this season, collecting 56 draw controls. Her mark is the fourth-most in a season by a Bonnies player. She needs three more to pass current head coach LeighAnn Stauffer on the list. Stauffer won 58 draw controls in 2015, the second-most in a single season in program history.
AROUND THE CORNER
After traveling to Virginia this weekend, the Bonnies head back out on the road the following week to face Davidson. Davidson is the farthest conference trip for the Bonnies with 640 miles between campuses. After that, SBU wraps up the regular season as they host VCU April 27 for senior day celebrations.
HISTORY WITH THE PATRIOTS
Last season, the Bonnies snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Patriots with a dominant 18-6 home win. McGovern tallied five goals while
Jessica Notaro had four and Hiltz tacked on three. Herrick recorded the win with four saves.
NOTES ON GEORGE MASON
George Mason comes into Saturday's game with an 8-6 overall record and a 2-4 mark in conference games. Most recently, Mason fell to Davidson, 16-6.
The Patriots were picked eighth in the A-10 Preseason Poll, one spot behind St. Bonaventure. Leading the way offensively for George Mason is graduate student Shannon Tuozzo. Since transferring in her junior year from Hartford, Tuozzo has led the team in goals and points in both seasons. This year, she has amassed 44 goals and 56 points.
Meghan Deehan has been the starter in cage, posting a 38.1% save percentage and allowing 12.05 goals per contest.
Notably, the Patriots forced overtime with a ranked Richmond squad in the beginning of A-10 play, falling by a score of 15-14.
