Rams Blank Bonnies, 5-0

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure baseball team could not solve VCU starter Christian Gordon as VCU shutout the Bonnies, 5-0, Saturday afternoon inside Handler Park at McGraw-Jennings Field.

The Rams broke a scoreless tie in the fourth on a solo home run from Aden Hill, then added a second tally on a two-out RBI single by Brandon Eike. The Rams would add another run in the sixth and Hill singled home another score in the eighth. A sacrifice fly in the ninth completed the scoring.

Gordon (4-1) was nearly untouchable as he tossed seven shutout innings, scatting four hits while walking two and striking out 10. Cade Dressler closed out the game with two innings out of the bullpen, surrendering just one hit and one walk.

Noah Czajkowski started for the Bonnies, throwing 4.2 innings while allowing two runs without a walk and struck out four. Kade Walker (2.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 3 K), Joel Connors (0.2 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 0 K), Gabe Watts (0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K) and Ryan O'Connell (1.0 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K) all saw time on the hill as well.

The two teams wrap up the series with a rubber game scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday.
