ORLANDO – St. Bonaventure finished the 2024 season with a solid round of 292 in the final round of the Atlantic 10 Championship Sunday at Evermore Resort. The Bonnies placed eighth in the final team standings, led by graduate student Lance Sininger who tied for 14th.
The Bonnies enjoyed a massive bounce back day following their second round 315.
VCU ran away with the team title by 15 shots over second-place George Washington with a winning total of 844. Davidson (873), Dayton (883) and Richmond (887) rounded out the top five while George Mason (894) and Loyola Chicago (901) were sixth and seventh.
St. Bonaventure was just one shot behind Loyola at 902 while besting La Salle (903) by one stroke. Rhode Island (919), Fordham (923) and Saint Joseph's (927) took the final three spots.
Sininger opened the tournament with a sterling round of 2-under 70 on Friday morning and finished his collegiate career with back-to-back rounds of 75. In his final round as a Bonnie, he made birdie on the par-3 third as well as the par-4 14th. He carded eight birdies in total for the weekend and finished 4-over for the tournament (220).
Michael Bucko was second on the team and tied for 29th in the field (73-79-75/227) while Jude Cummings was two shots back of his teammate, finishing his collegiate career with totals of 76-81-72/229 following an even-par round on Sunday.
Also in the lineup for the Bonnies in all three rounds was Peter Byrne (76-80-76/232).
Gabe Williams posted 79 on Friday and was not in the lineup Saturday, but he was at his best on Sunday after returning to the lineup. The sophomore had his best conference championship round, finding red figures at 2-under 70. Only five players in the field went lower than Williams in the final round as he posted four birdies including a 3-under front nine.
