The St. Bonaventure Department of Athletics mourns the passing of Paul Hoffman, '72, who passed away July 20. He was 74.

A member of the St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame, Hoffman was a starter on Bona's 1970 Final Four team, averaging 11 points per game that season.

In the next two years, he averaged 15.4 and 15.8 points per contest and was a leader of St. Bonaventure's third-place NIT team in 1971. Over his three seasons, Bona's record was 62-17.

He netted 1,103 points in three years at the varsity level and remains 39th all-time in Bonnies career scoring.

Hoffman was one of 60 players on the ballot for the program's All-Time Team selected during Bona's Centennial Season of 2019-20.

He remained in the area following his Bonaventure career, serving as a teacher in the Genesee Valley school district. Hoffman spent over three decades as a social studies teacher and coached boys and girls basketball, boys soccer and girls volleyball for 25 of those years. He was a Bonnies basketball season ticket holder and an active participant in Athletics Department golf tournaments and other events.

Hoffman was inducted into the St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.

Family members will release details on funeral arrangements at a later date.
