ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse alum Austin Blumbergs '22,'23 has signed a one-year contract with the Halifax Thunderbirds of the National Lacrosse League.
 
Blumbergs completed his collegiate lacrosse career in 2023 after a five-year stint with the Bonnies. He finished his career ranking second all-time in program history in games played (57), third in points (66), and fourth in goals (54). In his final season as a graduate student, he appeared in every game and totaled seven points on six goals and an assist, additionally securing eight ground balls.
 
As a freshman, Blumbergs was named to the 2019 MAAC All-Rookie Team after starting in each of the team's games and scoring 11 goals. As a junior in 2021, he was among the conference leaders in goals and posted three hat tricks, leading to a MAAC First Team All-Conference selection. He added to his list of honors in his senior season, being named a 2022 MAAC Second Team All-Conference selection. He also produced in the classroom, stringing together three MAAC All-Academic Team selections (2020-22).
 
Previously drafted by the Buffalo Bandits in the fifth round of the 2022 NLL Draft, Blumbergs joins five former Bonnies currently in the NLL. The Bandits roster Zack Belter '23, who was a major piece of their championship-winning squad this past May, as well Jake Rosa '24 and Kellen Pulera '24. Sean Westley '22,'23 is a forward for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, and Brett Dobson '22, who earned back-to-back Premier Lacrosse League Championship Game MVP selections (2023-24) for the Utah Archers, plays goalie for the Georgia Swarm.
