The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team returns to the friendly confines of the Marra Athletics Complex Thursday evening to host Youngstown State before heading to Syracuse for a match with the Orange Sunday afternoon as the program has two matches on deck this week.

SAAC WELCOME BACK BBQ
The St. Bonaventure Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host a back-to-school BBQ open to SBU student-athletes before Thursday's game. The picnic will begin at 6:00 p.m. between the soccer and baseball fields. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies were on the road last Sunday at Little Three rival Niagara. Despite leading 10-2 in shots on goal, Bona fell to the Purple Eagles, 1-0, snapping a two-game win streak in the series for St. Bonaventure. 
 
FILLED WITH FIRST
The first five games of the season have seen many firsts for Bona players. Sophomores Lilly Ma and Lauren Westwood have tallied their first collegiate goals as well as freshman Evie Underhill. 
 
Alessia Donia and Mahelie Barbeau also posted their first career assists in the early going for the Bonnies. 
 
YOUNGSTOWN NOTES
The Penguins have started the 2024 season 2-1-2, and most recently recorded a 1-0 win over the Atlantic 10's George Washington Sunday in Ohio.
 
Youngstown was selected to finish fifth in the Horizon League preseason poll and received one first-place vote. 
 
Since 2015, the Bonnies and the Penguins have met seven times. In that time, Bona's has gone 2-2-3, with three scoreless ties in the last four games. The Bonnies recorded the most recent win in the series in 2018, taking a 3-1 decision at Youngstown. 
 
SYRACUSE NOTES
Syracuse has recorded a 4-1-1 record so far this season. Their loss came Sunday in Ithaca as Cornell downed the Orange 2-1. SU is scheduled to play Binghamton Thursday evening in Vestal, N.Y. before the Bonnies meet them in Syracuse Sunday.
 
The Orange were picked to finish last in the ACC preseason poll. The stacked conference has seven teams in the USC national rankings, including 2023 National Champions Florida State. 
 
The series history between the Bonnies and the Orange leans in Syracuse's favor three games to two. The Bonnies scored their most recent win over the in-state foe in 2009 season opener with a 2-1 victory at home. 
 
However, it's been 12 years since the two teams have faced off. The 2012 contest hosted by St. Bonaventure was won by the Orange 2-0.
