"Behind The Bonnies" is a GoBonnies.com feature series where we get to know student-athletes at St. Bonaventure University. In this edition, we meet sophomore Jonah Hinton.
Sophomore Jonah Hinton has been a key to the Bonnies strong start this season.
The Chicago native has averaged over eight points per game for the year and has seen his role expand after moving into the starting lineup in mid-December.
To begin Atlantic 10 play, he scored new career highs in back-to-back games, first with 16 points in a win over VCU Dec. 31 before tallying new Division I bests in both points (17) and rebounds (7) in a win at Fordham Jan. 4. He's posted double figures in eight games so far this season.
He joined the Bonnies after a standout campaign last season at Panola College.Â
At Panola, Hinton started all 34 games where he averaged 14.2 points, 3.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds per outing. Hinton also connected on 40 percent of his three-pointers (85-214). He helped the squad there to a Top 20 national ranking and a spot in the second round of the NJCAA national tournament. In his high school days, he was his conference's Player of the Year while at Naperville Central (Ill.) and he posted a 3.8 GPA in the classroom.
