Bonnies Host Davidson for Saturday Matinee

The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team returns home to host Davidson Saturday, Jan. 18. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at the Reilly Center.

TIPPING OFF
The Bonnies look to rebound from a 98-60 loss Wednesday evening on the road at Richmond.

Redshirt senior Dani Haskell paced the Bonnies with 14 points with four 3-pointers while also corralling three steals. Freshman Zoe Shaw finished with 12 points, four rebounds and five assists for the Brown and White while fellow freshman Caitlin Frost tallied 11 points.

Freshmen Mackenzie Pettinelli and Hannah Richardson chipped in nine and eight points, respectively.

Richmond ended Wednesday's first half on a 17-3 run, taking a 61-33 lead at halftime and never looked back.

FRESHMEN FINDING MINUTES
Among 58 total freshmen that have played a game in the Atlantic 10 this season, the Bonnies' six freshmen all rank in the top 25 in minutes per game.

Zoe Shaw leads all A-10 freshmen with 33.1 minutes per game while Caitlin Frost sits third at 26.9 minutes per contest. Mackenzie Pettinelli also ranks in the top 10, ranking sixth at 25.9 minutes.

Lena Walz ranks 13th (18.0 mpg), Macy Smith 22nd (12.6) and Hannah Richardson 23rd (12.4).

Shaw and Pettinelli are the only two Atlantic 10 freshmen to start 15 or more games this season.

Frost currently leads all A-10 frosh in rebounding, grabbing 5.2 rebounds per game while ranking third in scoring (10.3 ppg) and fifth in steals (1.1 spg).

In Atlantic 10 play this season, Shaw is averaging 13.5 points which ranks first among all Atlantic 10 freshman and 16th overall. Frost is posting 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during Atlantic 10 play. Her 6.0 rebounds per contest leads all Atlantic 10 freshmen.

KEEPING IT CLEAN
Entering Saturday's contest, the Bonnies rank third in the Atlantic 10 and 27th in the NCAA in fouls per game, committing just 14.1 a contest.

AT THE LINE
The Bonnies are making their chances at the free throw line count this season, shooting 75.2 percent from the charity stripe. That mark ranks fourth in the A-10 and 56th in the NCAA.

Dani Haskell sits second in the Atlantic 10 and 37th in the NCAA, making 87.0 percent of her chances from the free throw line.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

  • Davidson enters Saturday's game with a 9-8 record overall and 4-1 in Atlantic 10 play. The Wildcats have not played since last Sunday when they fell to Richmond, 63-41, in their first loss of conference play. Davidson has picked up A-10 victories over Duquesne (76-70), La Salle (78-61), Saint Louis (94-53) and Rhode Island (65-55).
  • The Wildcats finished last season 18-8 overall and 8-7 in Atlantic 10 play before cancelling the remainder of their season March 2 due to injuries within the team. Davidson was picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, receiving one first-place vote.
  • Gayle Fulks is in her eighth season as the head coach at Davidson. She has posted a 113-109 record with the Wildcats, winning 15 or more games four times.
  • Katie Donovan leads Davidson in scoring, averaging 10.6 points per game to go along with 4.9 rebounds. Charlise Dunn (10.4 ppg), Issy Morgan (10.4 ppg) and Candice Lienafa (10.2 ppg) are also averaging double figures for the Wildcats. On the glass, Millie Prior pulls down a team-best 6.1 rebounds per contest.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday marks the 15th all-time meeting between the Bonnies and Wildcats. The two sides had never played each other prior to Davidson joining the Atlantic 10 in 2014. The Wildcats hold the edge in the all-time series, 8-6, winning five straight over the Brown and White.

The Bonnies last beat the Wildcats on back-to-back days during the 2020-21 season, winning Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 at the Reilly Center. Bona's defeated Davidson, 71-58, in game one and won 71-63 in game two.

Bonnies head coach Jim Crowley is 2-1 all-time against Davidson.

The Bonnies are back on the road to take on Saint Joseph's Wednesday, Jan. 22. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Hawk Hill.
