ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team dropped an Atlantic 10 contest to Davidson, 83-45, Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center.
Zoe Shaw tallied 13 points and six rebounds to lead the Bonnies while Dani Haskell chipped in 10 points.
The Wildcats (10-8, 5-1 A-10) jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
The Bonnies (5-13, 1-6 A-10) used a 5-0 spurt to cut into the deficit early, but Davidson responded with an 11-1 run to end the period, taking a 21-6 lead.
The two sides traded baskets to begin the second quarter, but the Bonnies still trailed by 17 with 7:33 remaining on the clock in the quarter.
Back-to-back jumpers from the Wildcats gave the visitors a 44-18 lead at halftime.
Davidson's lead grew to as many as 31 in the third quarter, 55-24.
The Bonnies, however, used a 9-2 spurt to look to build momentum, but answered with a Davidson layup as time expired, pushing the lead back to 57-33.
The Wildcats held on to their double-digit lead through the fourth, earning the victory.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH JIM CROWLEY
"We made a lot of the same defensive breakdowns today that we had Wednesday and that's on me as a coach. We have given up 30 threes in two games and that is not where we need to be. Credit to Davidson."
"If you don't have high hands on the ball, they are able to move comfortably and they were because we weren't doing that. Then if you are late, they do a great job of picking you apart."
UP NEXT
The Bonnies head back out the road to take on Saint Joseph's Wednesday, Jan. 22 in Philadelphia. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Hawk Hill.
