ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Five players scored in double figures as the St. Bonaventure men's basketball team defeated Alfred, 101-40, in its preseason exhibition on Wednesday night (Oct. 29) at the Reilly Center. All 11 active Bonnies appeared in the scoring column.

First Half:
Alfred jumped out to an early 11-5 lead after shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc to start the game.

St. Bonaventure immediately responded with a 23-2 run to take an insurmountable lead that it would not relinquish. Fifteen of the Bonnies' 23 points during the run came from three-pointers.

Later in the first half, the Bonnies extended their first half lead with an 11-0 run led by

Second Half:
The Bonnies picked up right where they left off, starting the second half with a 7-0 run.

After Alfred buried a three to cut the SBU lead to 55-30, the Bonnies held the Saxons without a field goal for the next 14:47. St. Bonaventure outscored Alfred 35-7 during that span, taking an overwhelming lead 53-point lead.

Freshman
John Ikpotokin entered the game late and entertained the Reilly Center crowd with a pair of highlight-reel dunks. Reserves
Broek Ostrom and
Jack DeRose each scored down the stretch as St. Bonaventure closed out the 101-40 win.

"First impressions are everything," Bonnies' coach
Mark Schmidt said. "This was the first time that our student body and community saw us play, so it was important for us to show them what type of team we have… It was a good first step and something we can build on."
