HOPKINTON, N.H. – Bonnies redshirt senior Clay Peets finished his St. Bonaventure cross country career in fitting fashion: by setting yet another program record at Friday's NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.

Peets, who already owns nearly every distance record in the Bona books, ran the 10K layout at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in a mark of 30:42.7 to become the first Bonnies runner to break the 31-minute mark in a 10K event. With his effort on a sunny and chilly afternoon in New Hampshire, he broke his existing school record by 25 seconds as he placed 61st in the field of over 250 athletes representing 41 schools across the region - also the top finish by a Bonnies men's runner at a regional championship.

The Bonnies placed 34th with 955 team points, ahead of Merrimack, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and Niagara in the team standings.

Sophomore Nathan Sikorski ran his first-ever 10K collegiate event and was second in line for the Bonnies with a time of 32:54.9, 214th overall with the seventh-individual time in the program records.

Grad student Drew Carlson also completed his cross country career by finishing third on the team and taking 10th in program history at 33:05.4.

Junior Joshua Lopez registered a new PR time of 33:14.3 as well while sophomore Aiden Konetsky ran his first 10K with a mark of 34:07.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"I'm incredibly proud of this group. They showed heart from the gun and earned one of the best regional finishes our program has ever seen. On top of that, three athletes etched their names into the top-10 all-time list. Moments like this are why we are proud to coach.

"Our two seniors finished their careers as true leaders of this program. Drew Carlson has poured four years of hard work and dedication into St. Bonaventure cross country, and his impact has been tremendous. He's been a vital contributor to our team's success and has etched his name into our PR board across every XC distance. We wouldn't be where we are without the commitment he brought every single day.

"Clay Peets has been the heart and leader of this program for the last four years. He holds every distance record in St. Bonaventure history — on the cross country course and on the track. His work ethic, competitiveness, and consistency have completely redefined what it means to be a Bonnie. And in the words of the great Rick Jeanneret, 'Call the cops — there's a robbery!' If Clay doesn't end up in the Hall of Fame, That's the level of legacy he's leaving here."
