The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team continues its stretch of seven straight games on the road when it travels to take on Mercyhurst Friday, Dec. 12. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Owen McCormick Court in Erie, Pa.
TIPPING OFF
The Bonnies are coming off a 66-57 win on the road last Saturday at Le Moyne.
Laycee Drake tallied 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Aaliyah Parker chipped in 20 points and eight rebounds, becoming the first pair of teammates with 20 or more points in a game since Feb. 5, 2022.
Drake gave the Bonnies a 62-55 lead with 2:21 remaining in the game, forcing the Dolphins to foul and the Bonnies iced the game at the free throw line.
WIN NO. 400
Bonnies head coach Jim Crowley eclipsed the 400-win mark for his head coaching career following Saturday's win on the road at Le Moyne. Crowley is St. Bonaventure's all-time winningest head coach with 276 wins with the Brown and White.
Crowley ranks 50th among active Division I head coaches with 400 wins.
CENTURY MARK
Friday's game at Mercyhurst will mark the 100th career game for Bonnies graduate student Aaliyah Parker. She has started all 11 games this season for the Bonnies after appearing in 88 games across three seasons at Niagara from 2021-24.
For her career, Parker is averaging 13.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. She has accumulated over 1,300 points and 600 rebounds for her career.
60 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
The Bonnies are 6-0 this season when holding opponents to 60 or fewer points, picking up victories over Mansfield (82-34), Niagara (74-56), Buffalo (64-57), Radford (55-45), Valparaiso (87-55) and Le Moyne (66-57).
CRASHING THE GLASS
Bona's is averaging 38.2 rebounds per game, ranking fourth in the Atlantic 10. On the defensive glass, the Bonnies are averaging 26.8 defensive rebounds per game which ranks second in the A-10.
The Brown and White's +5.7 rebounding margin is the second-best mark in the A-10 behind Duquesne's +9.6 rebounding margin.
MERCYHURST NOTES
- The Lakers enter Friday's contest still in search of their first win of the season, sitting at 0-8 to start the season. Mercyhurst's schedule has tested them early, featuring contests against Michigan State, Iowa State and West Virginia. The Lakers were picked to finish sixth in the Northeast Conference preseason poll after finishing last season 9-18 overall and 6-10 in NEC play last season.
- Mercyhurst is led by Lena Walz who is averaging 13.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Jenna Van Schaik is second on the team in scoring, chipping in 12.0 points per game.
- Erin Mills-Reid is in her first season as the head coach of the Lakers. She began her coaching career as an assistant at Mercyhurst during the 2006-07 season and has spent time as an assistant at Bloomfield, Army, Cincinnati, Air Force, Stephen F. Austin and most recently Akron.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bonnies and Lakers are set to meet for the 13th time Friday evening. Bona's has dominated the all-time series, 11-1, but the two teams have not played since the 1985-86 season. The Brown and White have won 10 straight matchups against the Lakers.
