BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Daniel Egbuniwe scored 15 points,
Cayden Charles added 14 points and four other Bonnies finished in double figures as the St. Bonaventure men's basketball team defeated previously unbeaten Buffalo, 77-69, on Saturday (Dec. 6) at Alumni Arena.
The Bonnies maintained a lead throughout the entirety of the game.
Frank Mitchell recorded his fourth straight double double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Ilia Ermakov logged a career-high 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting and
Dasonte Bowen recorded a season-best 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting. Buddy Simmons II also chipped in 12 points.
FIRST HALF
St. Bonaventure (8-1) opened the contest with eight unanswered points behind a jumper and triple from Charles, a free throw from Bowen and layup from Mitchell.
Buffalo's Daniel Freitag halted the run with a score, but the Bonnies continued their strong play, outscoring UB 6-0 over the next 2:03 to take a 14-2 lead following a triple by Ermakov.
The Bulls (8-1) clawed their way back to down one, 21-20, after a 18-6 push that included eight straight points by Ryan Sabol.
SBU responded with another blow, forcing its cushion back to double digits, 36-26, through a 15-6 surge fueled by three-pointers from Bowen, Simmons II and Ermakov.
In the remaining 2:04, UB shrunk the gap to six, 38-32, heading into the break. Ermakov and Simmons II led the Brown and White in scoring at half with eight points each.
SECOND HALF
Buffalo went on an 8-3 spurt through the first 4:39, trimming the margin to 41-40.
St. Bonaventure stayed composed, going on a 13-4 run capped off by a Mitchell putback lay-in to extend the advantage to 54-44 at the 10:53 mark.
Both teams traded scores over the ensuing 7:33, with the Bonnies protecting their multi-possession edge, 67-59.
UB cut SBU's lead to as little as five in the final two minutes, but Charles, Simmons II, Egbuniwe and Mitchell all went 2-for-2 from the free throw line in that span to secure the 77-69 win.

The Bonnies will return to the Reilly Center on Wednesday (Dec. 10) to host Colgate. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
NOTES
- Mitchell surpassed 600 career rebounds during the game. With 13 rebounds in the game, he also surpassed 100 boards on the season.
- The Bonnies have had six players reach double figures in a game for the second time this season.
- The two teams shot a combined 12-for-25 (48 percent) from beyond the arc in the first half, but just 5-for-20 (25 percent) in the second half.
- St. Bonaventure tallied a season-high 13 steals as a team. They forced 17 Buffalo turnovers and scored 21 points off those turnovers.
