KINGSTON, R.I. – The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team scored the program record for most-ever goals in an Atlantic 10 Conference game in Saturday's 22-10 victory over Rhode Island, courtesy of five hat tricks and eight different goal scorers.
Â
Senior
Tori Nascimento led the way with six points in the first half and seven in the contest. Other Bonnies with hat tricks included
Brooke Piper,
Fiona McGovern,
Rylee Gonzalez, and
Sidney Van Tassel. Saturday's game marks the first career hat trick for the freshman Van Tassel.
Â
The 22 goals represent the most by the Bonnies since a 2016 20-10 victory over Delaware State and tie for second-most in any game in program history along with 22 posted vs. Binghamton in 2003. The all-time single-game program record is 24 recorded in a 2006 win vs. Niagara.
Â
Piper reached 100 career points with her first goal of the day just 32 seconds into the game. The junior becomes the 18
th Bonnie in program history to reach the milestone, joining teammate McGovern and head coach
LeighAnn Stauffer, '17.

Brit Colangelo netted her second goal of the year to start the second quarter, picking up a groundball in the defensive zone and going coast to coast for the third goal of her career. Â
Â
The Rams (4-4, 0-2 A-10) lone goal of the second quarter came with 5:33 on the clock off the stick of Sami MacDonald; however, Nascimento recorded a natural hat trick to end the half and give the Bonnies a 12-5 advantage at the intermission.
Â
The offensive onslaught from the Bonnies continued in the second half as they scored six more times in the third quarter and never let the lead dip below six.
Â
McGovern scored the first of the second half for the Bonnies, netting the feed from
Megan Schillinger who won the draw control.
Â
Gonzalez tallied back-to-back goals in under a minute from 8:37-7:46.
Â
Van Tassel netted two in a row and beat the buzzer to complete her first career hat trick.
Â
After 45 minutes of action the Bonnies were in firm control, leading 18-9.
Â
Grace Hollenbeck and Schillinger joined the scoring party in the fourth quarter while Piper and Nascimento added their fourth and sixth goals of the day respectively for a 22-10 victory.
Â
Nascimento finished with a career-high in points (7) and goals (6) while recording her ninth career game with multiple goals and second with five or more points.
Â
Schillinger had another excellent day on the draw with 13 draw controls. She moves up to 93 on the season and 171 in her career, tying Laura Spaulding, '04, for second on the Bonnies career draw controls leaderboard.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH LEIGHANN STAUFFER
"The girls played as a unit today, and executed our game plan very well. Not only that but our energy was high throughout the whole game. We cleaned up a lot of little things that we had been working on all week and it showed today. Today was an all-around great team win."
