ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – George Mason set the tone early and never looked back, earning the series win with a 14-5 victory against the Bonnies Saturday afternoon.
The Patriots struck first in the top of the second. A two-run home run began what ended up being a five-run inning for George Mason. A two-run single an inning later put Mason up 7-0 after three.
Bonaventure got their offense started in the bottom of the fourth.
After a one-out walk by Robert Mannino, Harrison Kaufman brought two runs in on a two-run home run to left field.
Bona's brought three more runs home in the ninth on a Chris Hoalcraft single and sac fly by Brian Carrothers.
David James got the start for the Bonnies on the mound. Kade Walker was solid in relief, throwing 4.2 innings in relief (4.2 IP, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K).
George Mason pitcher Connor O'Hara earned the win with 12 strikeouts in five innings on the mound. Offensively, five Patriots had multiple RBIs. Lucas Alberti led George Mason with two home runs and three RBIs.
The two teams will meet for the series finale tomorrow at 1 p.m.
