The St. Bonaventure golf team is set to open the spring season at the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate Classic hosted by George Mason. The tournament will be streamed on
YouTube and live scoring will be on
Clippd.
The team spent the week of spring break at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina, preparing for the spring season.
"We've had a great week of practice. Hopefully getting better each day," head coach
Ryan Swanson said. "The season is much more compact this year with some date changes and we hope that benefits us as we will be playing a lot in a short amount of time. It's nice to stay outside rather than going from inside to outside, back to inside, etc. I'm excited to see where we are at in a very good field on a fantastic golf course."
FALL RECAP
In the 2024 fall season, the Bonnies had some outstanding performances from their veterans and the rookies.
The Brown and White earned their eighth consecutive Little Three Championship in September behind a stellar performance from
Michael Bucko that earned him co-medalist honors. Bucko shot 71 in both rounds of the tournament at Crag Burn Golf Club in East Aurora, N.Y.
Bucko was a picture of consistency in the fall, posting the team's low average of 72.5. He didn't have a round worse than +3 in the fall season.
Freshman
Dante Bertoni went low in his second round at Crag Burn, posting a career-best 68 with eight birdies and a 6-under 30 on the front nine.
Gabe Williams had the low round of the fall at the Murray Cup, shooting a 6-under 66 and earning medalist honors.
A consistent member of the lineup for the Bonnies in his first semester,
Braddock Damore posted a 74.8 average in 11 rounds played.
