Bulls Down Bonnies in Non-Conference Action

BUFFALO – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a pair of contests on the road at Buffalo Tuesday afternoon.

The Bonnies and Bulls battled in game one with UB coming out on top, 10-7, before the Buffalo grabbed the night cap, 13-3.

GAME 1 – Buffalo 10, St. Bonaventure 7
The Bonnies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first after Kendall Stull reached on an error, allowing Victoria Jacques to score from second.

The Bulls, however, quickly tied it up in the bottom half of the first with a sacrifice fly.

Bona's took a two-run lead in the third when two came across to score on a Buffalo error.

Buffalo once again answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three on a single, a sacrifice fly and a walk, taking a 4-3 lead.

The Bonnies retook the lead in the top of the fourth when Jacques singled home Karena Recrosio and Lauren Dundon.

The lead did not stick for long as the Bulls took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run double off the bat of Avelyn Van Heyst.

The back-and-forth contest continued into the sixth as the Bonnies scored two in the frame to tie the game, 7-7.

An RBI groundout from Kymora Wang pulled the Bonnies within one before Nolah Moyer singled which allowed Stull to score from an error later in the play.

The hosts, however, scored three runs in the bottom of the six on a pair of singles, retaking the lead, 10-7.

The Bulls retired the Bonnies in order in the seventh, earning the game one victory.

GAME 2 – Buffalo 13, St. Bonaventure 3 (F/5)
The Bonnies took an early lead in game two, plating a pair in the top of the first.

Wang brought Recrosio home to kick off the scoring before crossing home a few batters later to make it a 2-0 game.

The Bulls pulled one back in the bottom of the first on an RBI double.

Momentum stayed with UB as they plated a pair on a double in the second, taking a 3-2 lead.

Nolah Moyer came through for the Brown and White with an RBI double in the top of the third, scoring, Jacques.

Buffalo, however, retook the lead in the bottom half of the third with a four-run inning, scoring on a double, a groundout and a sacrifice fly.

The Bulls broke the game wide open in the fourth, scoring six to take a 13-3 lead and capturing the doubleheader sweep.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies return home to host Loyola Chicago for a three-game series, beginning Saturday, April 5 with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m. at Joyce Field.
