BRONX, N.Y. – Madden Ocko's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth sent Fordham to a 5-4 victory over visiting St. Bonaventure Friday afternoon at Houlihan Park.
Batting with the bases loaded and two outs in the last of the ninth, Ocko slapped a single to left for the game-winning hit to send Fordham to a series victory.
For the second consecutive day, the Bonnies scored first.
Jayce Tharnish led off the game with a ground-rule double and came home one batter later when David Marshall Jr. drilled another double to right-center.
Fordham (18-21, 9-8 A-10) answered with three in its first trip to the plate, however.
The Rams led 4-1 into the sixth when the Bonnies rallied.
A two-run homer off the bat of Conner Vercollone brought the Bonnies within 4-3 in the sixth.
Tharnish continued the uprising in the seventh inning with another two-base hit, moving to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Marshall again drove him home with a single to left to pull the score even.
Chance Moore was solid in his starting role, tossing six innings and allowing three earned runs with five strikeouts. Luke Roggenburk surrendered a run in 2.2 innings out of the bullpen.
The teams wrap up the series Saturday afternoon.
