Billikens Sweep Saturday Doubleheader from Bonnies

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a doubleheader on the road at Saint Louis Saturday afternoon.

The Billikens rallied for a 16-5 game one victory before shutting out the Bonnies in game two, 3-0.

GAME 1 – Saint Louis 15, St. Bonaventure 6 (F/6)
The Bonnies jumped ahead of the Billikens in the top of the first when Eleanor Park lined a two-run single to centerfield, scoring Kymora Wang and Kendall Stull.

Abigail Ahern extended the Bonnies lead to 3-0 in the top of the second with a leadoff solo home run.

The Billikens pulled two back in the bottom of the second on a triple and a walk.

Wang pushed the lead to 4-2 with a leadoff home run in the top of the third.

The sophomore came through for the Brown and White again in the top of the fourth with an RBI single. Stull followed up her up with an RBI single of her own, extending the lead to 6-2.

Saint Louis, however, rallied to take a 12-6 in the bottom half of the fifth, scoring 10 runs on seven hits and two errors.

The hosts capped off the game one win with three runs in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Abby Mallo.

GAME 2 – Saint Louis 3, St. Bonaventure 0
It was a pitcher's duel in game two through the first three innings.

Saint Louis broke through on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth, scoring the game's first run on a bases loaded walk.

The Billikens tacked on two more runs in the frame on a wild pitch and a fielder's choice, taking a 3-0 lead.

That would be enough for SLU and starter Isabel Royle who struck out five in the shutout.

Ava Lomelin allowed no hits over 2.2 innings of relief action while starter Kylie Bickert scattered a pair of hits in 3.1 innings of work.
