ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. –
Randy Mearns will not return as St. Bonaventure's men's lacrosse head coach, Vice President & Director of Athletics
Bob Beretta announced on Monday.
Â
"Today I informed
Randy Mearns, our student-athletes and coaches within the men's lacrosse program of my decision to make a leadership change," said Beretta. "After careful assessment of the program, I am confident we can achieve our goal of competing for an Atlantic 10 Conference championship under new leadership. We will work tirelessly to identify the best candidate to accomplish that mission."
Â
Mearns, who has served as head coach at St. Bonaventure since the program's inception in 2017, led the Bonnies to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship Game in 2022. He also oversaw the Bonnies' transition to the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2023.
Â
In seven years at the Bonnies' helm, Mearns posted an overall record of 24-62. St. Bonaventure finished 6-10 overall (1-4 A-10) this season.
Â
"We are grateful to Randy and his family for their contributions to our University and Athletic Department," Beretta added. "We wish them the very best moving forward."
Â
A national search for St. Bonaventure's next Men's Lacrosse Head Coach will begin immediately.
