Women's Lacrosse Set to Honor Senior Class Prior to Sunday's A-10 Tilt vs Davidson

The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team is coming off a 2-0 week on the road, picking up wins over Duquesne and VCU to improve to 4-1 in conference play. The Bonnies look to continue their streak of success Sunday as they host Davidson at the Marra Athletics Complex. Prior to the 12:00 p.m. opening draw, the Bonnies will honor their eight graduating seniors.
 
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Brooke Cicoria is a four-year member of the program and was named team captain this season. She has made 37 starts in 56 appearances, recording 24 caused turnovers and 48 groundballs. Cicoria has earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll every year of her career while majoring in health science.
 
Alexys Oechsle is a four-year member of the program. She made 11 appearances during her career. In the classroom, she is a health science major and has earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll each season.
 
Fiona McGovern is a four-year member of the program, appearing in 60 games and making 55 starts. She has left her mark in the Bona's record books, entering the top three in career points (193) and assists (80) and the top six in goals (113). In her sophomore season, McGovern set the program record for most free position goals in a season with 24. She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team last season and is a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team honoree. She was also named to the 2022 A-10 All-Rookie squad. The Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. native is a health science major on a pre-med track.
 
Katelyn Rokitka is a four-year member of the program. She has appeared in 19 games, tallying seven points in her career. She is a physical education major and a three-time Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree.
 
Grace Burns is a four-year member of the program. She has made 25 career appearances. In the classroom, Burns is a physical education major and has been named to the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll each year of her career.
 
Chloe Szot has been a member of the Bonnies program for four seasons. She has played in 40 games in her career, amassing 43 draw controls. She is a business management major and two-time Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree.
 
Mackenzie Herbst is a four-year member of the program, appearing in five career games. As a marketing major, she has earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in every year of her career.
 
Tori Nascimento is a four-year member of the program and was named team captain this season. She has appeared in 42 games, tallying 67 points on 52 goals and 15 assists. Nascimento has scored five game-winning goals for the Bonnies, including four this season. In the classroom, she is a physical education major and has earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll every year of her career.
 
DEFENSIVE BATTLE
Davidson and St. Bonaventure tout the two best defenses in the Atlantic 10 Conference in terms of scoring defense. The Wildcats are ranked seventh in Division I, allowing 8.27 goals per game, while Bona's is second in the conference and 21st in D-I in the category, allowing 9.67.

Sunday's game will also feature two of the best goalies in the league in Bona's Katelyn Hicks and Davidson's Kayla Joyce. Joyce leads the A-10 in save percentage (.524) and is sixth in D-I. Hicks is second in the league with a save percentage of .502, ranking 14th in the country.
 
WINNING THE DRAW
The Bonnies continue the hold the best draw control percentage in the Atlantic 10, winning over 62 percent of draws per game. Megan Schillinger has contributed to the team's success in the circle as Bona's main draw-taker. She is six draw controls away from becoming St. Bonaventure's all-time draw controls leader. Courtney Gibbons currently holds the Bona's program record, tallying 195 in her career from 2003-06.
 
HOT START
The Bonnies are off to their best Atlantic 10 start (4-1) since the 2005 season when they began league play 5-0. They are off to the best overall start (8-4) since 2007 when they also began the season 8-4 and finished the year 8-7 overall and 5-2 in the A-10 to tie for third. A 5-2 mark is Bona's best-eve conference record, done twice (2006 & 2007).
 
ATLANTIC 10 STANDINGS
Massachusetts sits atop the A-10 standing with a perfect 5-0 record in league play. Richmond sits behind the Minutewomen at 5-1 while Davidson, St. Bonaventure, and Saint Joseph's all tout a 4-1 record in A-10 play.
VCU has a 3-3 record followed by Duquesne (2-4), Rhode Island (1-3), and George Washington (1-5). George Mason and La Salle are winless in conference play.
