Bonnies Fall Short in Series Finale

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped an Atlantic 10 contest to Loyola Chicago, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Joyce Field.

The Ramblers (12-24, 7-5 A-10) took an early lead Sunday, plating three in the top of the first on a single, an error and a passed ball.

The Bonnies (4-26, 0-12 A-10) pulled two back in the bottom of the third, breaking through for their first run of the game on an RBI single off the bat of Kymora Wang.

Victoria Jacques crossed home on an error a few batters later, cutting the Loyola lead to 3-2.

The Ramblers tacked on an insurance run with an RBI single in the fifth to push their lead to 4-2.

The Bonnies looked to start a rally in the sixth when Kendall Stull circled the bases with an inside-the-park home run to left-center field, bringing the Bonnies within one.

That would be as close as the Bonnies would get as Peyton Pepkowski closed the door in the seventh, capturing the three-game sweep.

Karena Recrosio also tallied a hit for the Bonnies.

In the circle, Mackenzie Frani struck out four over 5.2 innings of work.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH MIKE THREEHOUSE
"I am extremely happy with both Mackenzie Frani and Kendall Stull in the circle today. I have asked them to compete their way out of this tough stretch and they are still playing hard. If they can continue to play for each other and keep faith in each other, good things are going to happen."

UP NEXT
The Bonnies remain at home to host Dayton Wednesday, April 9 for an Atlantic 10 doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Joyce Field.
