ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a midweek doubleheader to Dayton Wednesday afternoon at Joyce Field.
The Bonnies dopped game one, 8-0, and fell in the nightcap, 6-1.
GAME 1 – Dayton 8, St. Bonaventure 0 (F/6)
Dayton broke through on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth, scoring a pair on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single.
The Flyers pushed their lead to 7-0 in fifth on a pair of walks, two sacrifice flies and a single.
Dayton put the game out of reach for good with an RBI single in the six, taking an eight-run lead and earning the game one win.
GAME 2 – Dayton 6, St. Bonaventure 1
The Flyers scored first in game two, taking a 2-0 lead on a walk and a single in the top of the first.
Dayton tacked on three in the top of the third on a single and a triple, extending the lead to 5-0.
UD made it a six-run game in the top of the fifth, scoring on a double to right-center field.
The Bonnies pulled one back in the bottom of the sixth when Kymora Wang doubled home Angelia Recrosio from first.
Bona's loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to push across a run as Dayton held on to secure the doubleheader sweep.
Mackenzie Frani went the distance for the Bonnies in game two, striking out six.
