ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team defeated Mercyhurst, 6-1, in game one Thursday afternoon at Joyce Field.

The Bonnies were leading the Lakers, 1-0, at the end of the second inning of game two before the game was called due to lightning in the area.

GAME 1 – St. Bonaventure 6, Mercyhurst 1
The Bonnies took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first with RBI base hits off the bat of Kendall Stull and Eleanor Park.

The Lakers, however, pulled one back in the second inning with a run-scoring double.

Bona's extended its lead to 4-1 in the bottom half of the fifth, scoring on a sacrifice fly from Nolah Moyer and an RBI single from Park.

Kymora Wang worked a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth, pushing the lead to 5-1.

Stull made it a five-run game with an RBI in the next at-bat.

That would be enough for starter Ava Lomelin who tosses a complete game, striking out a pair and scattering five hits.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies wrap up the season with a three-game series Saturday and Sunday against Saint Joseph's. Saturday's doubleheader is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.
