ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's basketball locker room is currently undergoing a nearly $1 million facelift with a complete reconfiguration of the space highlighting summer construction on campus.

"This project is much more than a locker room renovation for our men's basketball team," said St. Bonaventure Vice President and Director of Athletics Bob Beretta. "By completely reimagining and reconfiguring this space, we are building a place where our players can establish a sense of community and formulate great pride in their program.

"We are extremely grateful to all those who contributed to this exciting initiative, especially Chip Howe and the Lawley family, who provided leadership gifts that will deliver a special place where future generations of Bonnies can flourish and the championship legacy of St. Bonaventure Basketball is preserved."

Renovations include a dedicated lounge area with a larger footprint for athletes to eat, study and interact. The locker room area will feature custom built lockers modeled off those used in NBA locker rooms. Each locker will be personalized to players and include amenities such as power, lighting, locked spaces and ventilation.

A video and whiteboard space will be utilized for pre-and-post game and practice meetings while a new kitchen area features a nutrition station to best fuel athletes for their busy days. Updated shower stalls, high countertops and additional amenities in the bathroom area will also be part of the construction set for completion this fall.

"This locker room project will be an exciting addition to our program's portfolio. The updated and reconfigured space will enhance the experience for our guys throughout the year," head coach Mark Schmidt said. "It will be a place I think they'll really enjoy and want to spend time in together. Thanks to the support of many who made this project possible."
