ST. BONAVENTURE (0-2-1) at POST (0-0)
Sunday, Aug. 31 – 1 p.m.
Waterbury, Conn.
The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team returns to action this week, continuing its five-game road stint with a non-conference matchup against Saint Peter's on Thursday at 4 p.m.. The team will then travel to face Division II Post at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies fell to Youngstown State on the road, 3-0, in their most recent contest this past Sunday. SBU held the Penguins scoreless into the 64th minute, but a late surge of offense from the hosts followed and was too much to overcome. Three days prior, the Bonnies dropped a 2-1 match at Binghamton in which they had to play from behind for a large percentage of game time. A free kick score from graduate student
Paula Sanabria Diaz kept it close, but the Bearcats eventually came out on top.
VETERAN LEADERSHIP
Bonaventure's offensive output has been led by a trio of graduate students in Sanabria Diaz,
Giovanna Coghetto, and
Daniela De Souza. Sanabria Diaz and Coghetto have each posted goals in separate contests while De Souza has tallied six shots on goal, the most on the team.
BRAND NEW BONNIES
Three transfers made their first appearances as Bonnies this past week. Graduate student
Maria Alonso saw seven minutes of action against Binghamton while fellow graduate
Beatriz Cairos and sophomore
Adelaide Paredes made their debuts with 40 plus minutes played each against Youngstown State.
BETWEEN THE POSTS
In three starts, junior goalkeeper
Juliana Castellano has recorded 13 saves and allowed just three goals. Paredes made five saves in her appearance against the Penguins.
