ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's basketball team is set to face Fordham on Saturday (Jan. 10) at the Reilly Center. Tipoff is scheduled for noon, and the game will be televised live on USA Network.
Hagan Honored
Saturday will be a historic day in the Reilly Center as Glenn Hagan's number 23 will be retired and immortalized in the rafters.
Hagan was the starting point guard on the Bonnies' 1977 NIT championship team. He set a St. Bonaventure record with 486 career assists (4.7 per game) and still ranks fourth among all Bonnies today.
The 1992 inductee into the St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame recorded 1,396 career points, which remains the 21st most in school history.
After St. Bonaventure, Hagan was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the 43rd overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft.

Frank Mitchell has been one of the most productive players in the country this season. He posted yet another double-double on Wednesday (Jan. 7) against Richmond, recording 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. It was his second game with 10-10-5 this season (Dec. 3 vs. Bloomsburg).
With 10 double-doubles on the season, Mitchell is tied for third most in the country and leads the Atlantic 10 as of Thursday (Jan. 8).
Mitchell is averaging 11.1 rebounds per game, which leads all players in the Atlantic 10 conference and ranks sixth nationally. He ranks fourth in the nation with 167 total rebounds.
A remarkable number of Mitchell's rebounds have come on the offensive end. His 75 total offensive rebounds (5.07 per game) lead all of Division I.

Mitchell has tallied double-digit offensive rebounds two games this season, with a season-best 11 against Colgate (Dec. 10) and 10 vs. Ohio (Dec. 13).
Mitchell's total rebounding percentage of 19.8 and offensive rebounding percentage of 17.6 would both be school records if the season ended today, with the latter being the highest in school history by 4.6 percentage points.
Mitchell is no stranger to the top of the national rebounding leaderboards. In 2023-24 with Canisius, he averaged 11.6 rebounds per game, the fourth-most in Division I.
In the scoring column, Mitchell has scored in double figures in all 15 games this season. He has scored 20-or-more points in three of his last four games.
The senior forward posted a team-best 24 points and seven rebounds at VCU (Dec. 31). Mitchell was named to the Atlantic 10 Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts.
Buddy Ball
Buddy Simmons II returned to early-season form with back-to-back star performances.
On Wednesday, Simmons II had a team-best 18 points while shooting 8-for-14 from the field.
In the game prior, the junior posted 22 points and a career-best seven assists while shooting 9-for-16 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range. It was Simmons II's fourth game with 20-or-more points scored this season, and his first since Nov. 25 vs. then-no. 16-ranked North Carolina.
In two Atlantic 10 games this season, Simmons II is averaging team-bests in points (20.0) and assists (4.0) while shooting 56.7 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Simmons II has made nearly twice as many three-pointers (36) as the next closest St. Bonaventure player (
Daniel Egbuniwe, 20) while shooting 40 percent (36-for-90) from long range.
The Detroit native also leads the Bonnies in free throw percentage, shooting 90.6 percent (29-for-32).
Dasonte Delivers
Dasonte Bowen as emerged as a reliable scoring threat for the Bonnies. Despite not reaching double figures in the first six games of the season, Bowen has scored 10-or-more points in eight of his last nine games, including each of the last six.
During that stretch, Bowen has shot 50 percent (36-for-72) from the floor and 35.3 percent (6-for-17) from beyond the arc.
The Boston native has also been an extremely effective playmaker, averaging 4.20 assists per game. The mark ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10. He has recorded three-or-more assists in 14-of-15 games this season.
Bowen leads the Atlantic 10 conference in Assist-to-turnover ratio with 63 assists to 23 turnovers (2.74 A/TO).
Battle on the Boards
Saturday's matchup will feature the two most productive rebounders in the Atlantic 10. Mitchell and Fordham's Rikus Schulte have emerged among the nation's leaders in rebounding all season.
Mitchell and Schulte are tied with an Atlantic-10-leading 167 rebounds. Mitchell leads the conference in rebounds per game (11.1) with Schulte close behind (10.4). The two are the only players averaging double-digit rebounds in the Atlantic 10.
Schulte is also Mitchell's runner-up in double-doubles among A-10 players. Mitchell leads the way with 10, while Schulte has seven. No other Atlantic 10 player has more than five double-doubles this season.
In The Rankings
In the latest NET rankings published by the NCAA on Thursday (Jan. 7), the Bonnies ranked 116th. In TeamRankings.com's RPI rankings, St. Bonaventure was ranked 45th in the country.
The Bonnies ranked 47th in FaktorSports' KPI rating, a metric used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee.
Fordham Notes:
- Fordham enters Wednesday's matchup on a three-game losing streak.
- The Rams are 9-7 on the season and 0-3 in Atlantic 10 play
- Fordham is led by Dejour Reaves, an Iona transfer who averages 16.5 points per game.
- Fordham's Rikus Schulte averages 10.4 rebounds per game and has posted seven double-doubles this season. Both marks are second in the Atlantic 10 to St. Bonaventure's Frank Mitchell.
- St. Bonaventure holds a 32-20 record against Fordham, having won each of its last three matchups with the Rams.
- The Bonnies are 19-4 against Fordham since 2010.
- In the last matchup between the two schools, St. Bonaventure claimed a 74-72 win over the Rams at the Reilly Center. Noel Brown scored a career-high-tying 22 points in the win.
