ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw against Fordham Saturday afternoon, securing a point in the Atlantic 10 standings on Senior Day at the Marra Athletics Complex.
The Bonnies (3-4-3, 1-1-1 A10) got off to a fast start in Saturday's contest.
In the second minute, Callum Shillington was taken down in the penalty area as Fordham was shown a red card and forced to play nearly the entire game a man down.
Kyle Macfarlane stepped up to the penalty spot and buried home his third goal of the season.
Bona's pushed for a second goal in the 15th minute when Harvey Skurek's cross found the head of Manex Landa. His chance, however, was caught by Fordham goalkeeper Leo Perelman.
The Rams found the equalizer in the 20th minute when a rebound fell to the foot of Sam Delgado who punched home his first goal of the game.
Just nine minutes later, Bruno Cellerino played in Delgado who flicked a shot over the Bonnies defense an into the back of the net, giving Fordham (4-4-2, 2-0-1 A10) a 2-1 edge.
The Bonnies were quick to answer in the 30th minute when Brendan Sheehan found Neshawn Sutherland in the box, punching home his first goal of the season and tying the game a 2-2.
Macfarlane had a chance to break the deadlock in the 53rd minute but was turned away by Perelman.
Shillington had shots on net in the 79th and 83rd minutes, however, he was unable to come away with the go-ahead goal.
Landa and Sutherland paced the Bonnies with three shots each while Macfarlane, Shillington, Jack Steel and Daniel Helle each recorded two shots.
In net, Winston Jory made five saves for the Brown and White.
