HAMPTON, Va. – Senior diver
Ben O'Neill collected a silver medal in the 1-meter dive on Wednesday afternoon to highlight the St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team's performance on the opening day of the Atlantic 10 Championships.
All-around success on the diving boards and in the pool allowed the Bonnies to finish Day One in second place with 90 team points, just behind La Salle's 94, followed by George Mason (89), George Washington (82), Fordham (79), Saint Louis (65) and Davidson (60). Â

O'Neill qualified for finals with a score of 289.05 points in the prelims, improving to 325.15 points in the finals to secure his hardware. He finished behind David Vargas Garcia of Fordham, who posted 341.55 points in the finals.

Freshman
Brady Huettl trailed the senior and placed fourth with 293.00 points after also qualifying for finals, improving from 269.55 points in the prelims.

In swimming action, the Bonnies' 800-freestyle relay team placed fourth with a time of 6:37.29. Juniors
Johnny Edwards and
Kevyn Collazo Torres combined with sophomore
Mark Mizsei and freshman
David Mutter to achieve that mark.
