New Program Records Etched on Opening Day of Atlantic 10 Swim Championships

2/18/2026 9:00:00 PM

HAMPTON, Va. - In large part to program-best races in the 200-medley relay and 800-free relay, St. Bonaventure's women's swim and dive team stands fourth after the first day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championships with 58 team points. Richmond leads the team standings with 74 points, ahead of Duquesne (68) and La Salle (66).

The Bonnies team of Sophie Baker, Paris Christie, Isabella Giupatto and Kate Hill claimed fourth-place and a spot in the program record book with their school record time of 1:40.24, outpacing the former program-leading 1:41.36 race set by Zanre Oberholzer, Rachel Kimmel, Mia Cote and Katrina Wardner which had stood since 2020.

Two new program records came in the 800-freestyle relay. The new relay record features three of the four swimmers from last year's record-setting race in Anna Bojana Forjan, Kathryn Beyer and Nele Vetter. Laila Chance filled the role of graduated Ellie Kraus to complete this year's team which crossed the finish line at 7:22.62, touching the wall just over a second faster than last year's lineup (7:23.70). Forjan led off the relay with a 200-free split of 1:49.50, breaking the existing school record of 1:49.63 set by Tanja Kirmse in 2016.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH MIKE SMIECHOWSKI
