Softball Drops Games to James Madison and Towson on First Day at Pirate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team fell to James Madison and Towson on day one of the Pirate Classic hosted by East Carolina.

The Bonnies dropped game one against the Dukes, 11-0, and fell in game two to the Tigers, 18-0.

Game 1 – James Madison 11, St. Bonaventure 0 – 5 Innings
The Dukes got off to a fast start Friday morning, plating three runs in the top of the first with a three-run home run off the bat of Payton List.

James Madison doubled its lead to 6-0 in the top of the second, scoring on an error, a sacrifice fly and a single.

A single, a double and a pair of fielder's choices saw the Dukes lead to 11-0 in the top of the third.

That would be all the Dukes would need to hold on for the win.

Nolah Moyer collected a pair of hits for the Bonnies while Abigail Ahern also registered a single for the Brown and White.

Game 2 – Towson 18, St. Bonaventure 0 – 5 Innings
Towson grabbed a first-inning lead over the Bonnies on the back of a two-run home run from Kaci Benton. The Tigers extended their lead to 4-0 in the first frame with a two-run double.

The Tigers pushed their lead to 7-0 in the second following a rain delay on a three-run home run.

Towson erupted for eight runs in the third inning and a pair in the fourth to take a commanding lead. The Tigers added a run in the fifth, scoring the shutout victory.

Colsten Beers registered two hits, including a double while Sydney DeGram also tallied a hit.
