Bojana Forjan’s Record-Setting Day Buoys Women’s Swim and Dive at A-10 Championships

HAMPTON, Va. -  St. Bonaventure junior Anna Bojana Forjan captured two gold medals with a record-setting day for the St. Bonaventure women's swim and dive team at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

At the close of the third day of competition at the conference meet, the Bonnies women have 237 team points to stand fifth overall. Richmond maintains the first place position with 399, ahead of George Washington (376.5) and Duquesne (355.5).

Bojana Forjan captured A-10 championship gold in both the 200-free (1:48.75) and 100-back (53.92).

The Bonnies held the majority of the podium in the 100-backstroke, with Bojana Forjan's time holding the top spot, Duquesne's Sierra Snow taking second with a 54.08 finish and Bona freshman Sophie Baker's personal-best 54.09 just behind at third to take bronze. Daciana Colon  swam a personal best 57.08 in the preliminary round.

Bojana Forjan broke her own school record in the 100-back, a mark of 54.52 which had stood for two years. She becomes the first A-10 women's 100-back champion since Paige Crimmin in 2003.

In the 200-free, she surpassed the existing Bonnies school record of 1:49.63 posted in 2016 by Tanja Kirmse. Taryn Ahern was Bona's last women's 200-free A-10 champion in 2006.

Bojana Forjan becomes the first Bona woman to take gold in multiple A-10 Championship events in the same year since Lina Kutsko claimed three golds in 2018.

The 200-freestyle race won by Bojana Forjan featured two other Bonnies in the final: Nele Vetter's 1:51.32 placed 11th and Kathryn Beyer's 1:52.96 placed 15th. Alessandra Ren swam a personal best 1:53.35 in the preliminary round.

Paris Christie's 1:02.85 in the 100-breaststroke was good for 10th place at the championship and her personal best in the race. Beyer swam a personal best of her own (1:04.99) in the preliminary round.

Isabella Giupatto's 53.78 finish in the competitive 100-butterfly led the consolation final and stands as the second-fastest race in Bonnie history behind only Kutsko's 53.61 set in 2018.
