Baseball Puts It All Together in 12-0 Blanking of Navy

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Dominant pitching and timely hitting led the St. Bonaventure baseball team to a 12-0 win at Navy on Saturday afternoon.

For the first six innings, Saturday's game was a pitchers' duel for the most part.

Bonnies senior Chris Hoalcraft accounted for all of the offense early – his 100th career hit came on a run-scoring first inning single and he followed that up with another RBI base knock in the third.

Bona's 2-0 lead remained until the seventh when the visitors pushed across a run without the aid of a hit, stretching ahead 3-0 on a wild pitch.

It would be more than enough for Bonnies starter Nolan Feidt who was outstanding on the hill.

Feidt scattered three hits allowed over seven innings, with just one double accounting for extra bases. He did not allow a runner past second, striking out four while throwing 52 of his 84 pitches for strikes in a scoreless effort.

The Bonnies (4-5) blew it open in the eighth as both Conner Vercollone and Hoalcraft smacked two-run doubles in a six-run frame.

Tristan Ciampa worked the final two innings to complete the combined shutout for Bonnies pitching.

Hoalcraft collected four hits and four RBIs to power the offense while Anthony Fernandez picked up three hits and scored three times out of the leadoff spot. Freshman Christian LaMothe singled twice and scored two runs with an RBI in an early season career day for the first-year Bonnie.

Navy falls to 6-3 with the loss.

The two teams will battle for the series victory on Sunday with first pitch at 1 p.m.
