AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped games to Incarnate Word and No. 3 Texas on day two of the Longhorn Invitational.
Bona's dropped game one to the Cardinals, 9-0, before falling to the Longhorns, 12-2.
Game 1 – Incarnate Word 9, St. Bonaventure 0 – 5 Innings
The Cardinals took an early lead in the bottom of the first, plating a pair on a single and an error.
Incarnate Word added a third run in second with a bases loaded walk.
The Cardinals took control of the game in the third with a three-run double before scoring a fourth run in the frame on an error.
UIW pushed the lead to 9-0 in the fifth on an RBI groundout, capturing the run-rule win.
Game 2 – No. 3 Texas 12, St. Bonaventure 2 – 5 Innings
The Longhorns grabbed control of the game early and never looked back.
The reigning national champions posted a seven-run bottom half of the first on a double steal, a single, a double and was capped off with a grand slam.
Texas grew its lead to 10-0 in the bottom of the second on a three-run home run before adding a pair of solo home runs in the fourth to make it a 12-0 ballgame.
The Bonnies looked to make a comeback in the fifth, scoring a pair of runs on Longhorn errors, but it was not enough as Texas was able to secure the win.
Colsten Beers, Grace Miller, Kymora Wang and Jayden Szkatulski collected hits for the Brown and White.
