COMMERCE, Texas – The St. Bonaventure University softball team fell in a pair of games against Texas Southern and East Texas A&M Saturday in Commerce, Texas.
The Bonnies fell in game one to Texas Southern, 9-1, before dropping the night cap to East Texas A&M, 4-3.
Game 1 – Texas Southern 9, St. Bonaventure 1 – F/5
Texas Southern jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, plating a pair int the bottom of the second inning.
Grace Miller was able to cut the deficit in half with an RBI groundout in the top of the third that scored Sydney DeGram.
TSU extended its lead in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly before tacking on six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a commanding 9-1 lead over the Bonnies.
Game 2 – East Texas A&M 4, St. Bonaventure 3
East Texas A&M grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs on a single and a double steal.
The Lions extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth on a fielder's choice.
The Bonnies finally broke through in the top of the sixth.
Colsten Beers brought home the first Bonnies run on a single up the middle.
A few batters later, Lauren Dundon smacked a single to left field, scoring a pair and tying the game at 3-3.
The Lions retook the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth on a fielder's choice.
The Bonnies wrap up play in Texas Sunday morning vs. Bucknell at 10 a.m.
