PHILADELPHIA – Nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's started fast and never looked back on the way to a 24-6 win over the St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon in Philly.
The 18th-ranked Hawks struck for 10 first quarter goals while holding the Bonnies off the scoreboard until Patrick Shanahan scored for Bona's at the 6:02 mark of the second quarter. Saint Joseph's led 17-2 at the break and iced the game away in the second half.
Cole Tucker (2G-1A) led the Bonnies offense with three points while Shanahan, Cole Kucinski, Patrick Carpenter and Blake Maracle all scored for SBU (4-5, 0-1 A-10).
Lad Harper recorded 12 faceoff wins and eight groundballs for the visitors.
Ben Dutton (4G-1A) and Colin Campbell (2G-3A) each had five points to power the Hawks (4-2, 1-0).
St. Bonaventure is off until March 28 when the Bonnies host UMass at noon.
