Bonnies Storm Past Billikens in Series Finale, 14-3

ERIE, Pa. – St. Bonaventure brought the bats Sunday morning at Mercyhurst Baseball Field to score their first Atlantic 10 victory of the season, 14-3 in seven innings over Saint Louis.

Freshman Christian LaMothe provided in a career-high five RBIs while Anthony Fernandez and Antonio Cordeiro both recorded three hits and three RBIs to power the Bonnies offense.

The Bonnies jumped on top early, taking the lead in the first on a Fernandez single to left center. Later in the frame, Cordeiro doubled down the left field line to plate another for a 3-0 advantage.

Bona's broke the game open with a six-spot in the third after the Billikens got a run back.

Fernandez drilled a single off the first baseman to score a pair, then LaMothe drove a double down the left field line to clear the bases and extend the lead to 8-1.

A squeeze play was executed by the Bonnies to perfection with Joey Calabretti at the plate for the ninth run to finally end the inning.

SLU (11-12, 4-2 A-10) picked up a sacrifice fly in the third, but LaMothe crushed his second homer of the year out to left in the fourth before an infield single by Chris Hoalcraft plated Bona's 11th tally.

In the seventh, Cordeiro put the getaway day run rule into effect by blasting a ground-rule double to score two runs, putting the game on ice.

Enger Paulino picked up the win on the mound with 6.2 innings of work, allowing just two earned runs with eight strikeouts.
