STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – A two-out, two-run seventh inning homer from Bryce Molinaro propelled Penn State to a 8-6 victory Tuesday night inside Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Penn State led 2-0 through three, but the Bonnies put up a five-spot in the fourth to take the lead.
Antonio Cordeiro started the scoring for the Bonnies with a two-out homer to left-center and his blast was followed by back-to-back run-scoring doubles off the bats of Alex Hebenstreit and Joey Calabretti respectively.
The Nittany Lions got two back in the home fourth to close within 5-4, but Bona's moved ahead by two again when Anthony Fernandez doubled home a run in the seventh.
That set the stage for the seventh as Penn State scored three times – first on a hit to center from Michael Anderson before Molinaro came through with two away on a blast to the deepest part of the ballpark.
In the eighth, the hosts added an insurance run.
Fernandez extended his streak of reaching base safely to 17 consecutive games with two doubles.
The Bonnies are back in action Friday as they begin an Atlantic 10 series at VCU with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
