WASHINGTON, D.C. – St. Bonaventure senior Brooke Piper has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon. It is her second A-10 Player of the Week honor this season and third of her career.
 
The captain earned her distinction after a week in which she totaled 12 points (10G-2A), nine draw controls, two groundballs and a caused turnover while setting a new program record for all-time goals.
 
The Aurora, Ontario native set her new program record this past Wednesday against Duquesne, scoring on the first possession of the game to reach 155 career goals and pass St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Famer Christine Hanley, '11, for the top spot after entering the day locked in a tie.
 
Piper scored six more goals in that game for a team-high total of seven scores. She also dished out two assists while controlling three draws, collecting a groundball and causing a turnover. She was one point away from the single-game program record of 10. She tied her personal single-game scoring high, which she first achieved last season against VCU. Her seven goals were one away from her career single-game record of eight, which she set last season against Bucknell. That figure is tied for the most in a single game in program history as Tracy Domm and Katelyn Faas also achieved the feat in 2002 and 2006, respectively.
 
Against Rhode Island the following Saturday, she punched in another hat trick, her 10th of the year, with three goals. She also tallied six draw controls and scooped a groundball to help propel SBU to the road victory. She now stands 10th among all active Division I players with 164 career goals.
 
Piper will see her next on-field opportunity this coming Saturday as the Bonnies will match up with preseason A-10-favorite Richmond on the road. The opening draw is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. with live action being streamed on ESPN+.
