OPENING DRAW
The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team returns to its home field this week, taking on Saint Joseph's at noon on Saturday at the Marra Athletics Complex. The team will honor the Morgan's Message Foundation which aims to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community.

MORGAN'S MESSAGE
The Bonnies will wear special shirts during Saturday's pregame warmups to honor the Morgan's Message Foundation, aiming to bring awareness to its goal of equalizing the levels of physical and mental treatment offered to student-athletes. Donations to the foundation can be made here or through Venmo addressed to the user @morgansmessage.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies stumbled on the road this past weekend against No. 25 Richmond, falling 19-6 despite just a one-goal deficit following the first quarter. The squad's six goals all came from different players with Gracie Williams, Megan Schillinger, Grace Hollenbeck, Kierstin Hillis, Sidney Van Tassel and captain Brooke Piper.

IN THE RANKINGS
Piper is part of one of the most accomplished senior classes in Bonnies program history. While she now owns the school record for career goals (165), she also is approaching another career milestone with 196 total points during her time with the Bonnies. Only two Bonnies have ever surpassed 200 points: Kelly Chevez '05 (240) and Fiona McGovern '25 (218).

Piper currently sits tied for second place among all Atlantic 10 players this season with 42 goals on the year, a total that is also 10th nationally. For her career, her 165 total tallies are 11th among all active Division I players.

Classmate Brit Colangelo continues to leave her mark as one of the best defensive players in Bona's history as well. She has 122 caused turnovers for her career which sits in second-place in the Bona record books. Only Emily Lilyea '03 tallied more in a Bona uniform (139). Colangelo's 160 career groundballs also stand fifth in school history.

This season, Colangelo leads all A-10 players by a wide margin in caused turnovers as her 29 are seven more than any other player in the conference. She ranks third among all active D-I players in career caused turnovers and sixth in groundballs.

CONTROLLING PACE
The Bonnies have compiled a 56.8 percent success rate on draw controls as a team this season thanks in large part to Schillinger and Piper. Schillinger leads the team with 62 draw controls and takes the majority of the workload from the circle. She is followed by Piper's total of 52.

ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S
  • The Hawks are led by head coach Alex Kahoe in her 12th season at the helm of the program. She became the first coach in program history to lead the team to back-to-back postseason appearances in 2016 and 2017. She has since led the program to eight postseasons in a row, including an A-10 title and first NCAA Tournament berth in 2022.
  • Saint Joseph's placed second in the A-10 Preseason Coaches Poll, receiving one first-place vote.
  • The Hawks are 4-1 in conference action so far this season with their lone blemish coming against conference-favorite Richmond. The team has beaten Duquesne, George Mason, George Washington and La Salle in all other A-10 games and will face Delaware on Wednesday before matching up with the Bonnies.
  • The team has lost by two-goal deficits to two national contenders this season, falling 17-15 to #2/3 Maryland before coming up just short against a Georgetown team which was receiving votes, 8-6.
  • Senior attacker Kate Fuhrman leads the team with 45 points coming from 25 goals and 22 assists. She is followed by fellow senior Alexa Capozzoli with 41 points (22G-19A).
  • Graduate student Liana Moli has started 10 of the team's 11 games in goal, making 58 total saves in that time.

SERIES HISTORY
The Hawks own the all-time series advantage at a mark of 19-8 after winning in 11 straight matchups. In last year's meeting, the Bonnies were downed 15-9 on the road.
