ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's basketball team dropped its regular season finale to Davidson, 68-63, on Saturday (March 7) at the Reilly Center.
For the fifth time this season, St. Bonaventure (15-16, 4-14 Atlantic 10) had two players record a double-double in the same game.
Cayden Charles tallied a season-high-tying 21 points and a season-best 12 rebounds, while
Frank Mitchell posted 16 points and 13 rebounds. Mitchell built on his Division-I-leading offensive rebound total (139) with five boards on the offensive end.
FIRST HALF
The two teams jockeyed for position in the opening minutes, trading the lead five times until Davidson (18-12, 10-8 A-10) pulled away with a 11-2 run. The spurt gave the Wildcats a 35-26 lead with 4:14 to play in the half.
Daniel Egbuniwe scored five points of a 7-1 SBU run to pull the Bonnies within three at the break.
SECOND HALF
The Bonnies opened the second half on a tear, scoring five unanswered points to take a 38-36 lead. Davidson responded with a 7-0 run to retake a five-point advantage with 13:58 to play.
The Bonnies would trail by as many as 14 down the stretch but ultimately pulled within two points with 1:55 remaining behind a frantic 13-1 run in the later portion of the second half. Charles had 11 of St. Bonaventure's 13 points during the run.
The Brown and White struggled from the field in the final two minutes, making just two of its next six shots. In the meantime, Davidson made eight free throws to secure a 68-63 victory.

St. Bonaventure will move on to the Atlantic 10 tournament from March 11-15 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. Seeding for the tournament is to be announced.
NOTES:
- Mitchell's double-double was his seventh straight and his Atlantic-10-leading 19th of the season.
- Charles made a career-best-tying 12 free throws.
- Bowen tallied seven assists, his ninth game with seven-or-more assists this season.
- Senior Broek Ostrom made his first career start.
