Softball Wraps Up Action at Boilermaker Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a pair of games Sunday on the final day of the Boilermaker Classic to Northern Illinois and Green Bay.

The Bonnies dropped game one to the Huskies, 13-2, and fell to the Phoenix in a rematch from Saturday, 12-3.

Game 1 – Northern Illinois 13, St. Bonaventure 2 – 5 Innings
The Huskies took control of the game with a four-run top of the first, scoring on a single, a double steal, a fielder's choice and an RBI groundout.

Northern Illinois tacked on six more runs in the third before adding two in the fourth to take a 12-0 lead over the Bonnies.

Bona's pulled one back in the bottom half of the fourth on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Lauren Dundon, scoring Sawyer Burke.

NIU added a 13th run in the top of the fifth while Ella Amato also scored a run for the Bonnies in the fifth.

Sydney DeGram, Grace Miller and Burke collected hits for the Brown and White.

Game 2 – Green Bay 12, St. Bonaventure 3 – 5 Innings
The Phoenix were able to jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, scoring on a two-run single up the middle.

The Bonnies, however, were quick to answer, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the first.

Nolah Moyer started the scoring after she reached on an error that allowed Colsten Beers to cross home. Kendall Stull was walked to tied the game at 2-2 before the Bonnies took the lead on a Lauren Dundon RBI single back up the middle.

Green Bay tied the game back up at 3-3 in the top of the second with an RBI single.

The Phoenix retook the lead in the top of the third with he help of a two-run home run and a two-run double, taking a 7-3 lead. Green Bay pushed the lead to 9-3 in the frame with a second two RBI double.

Green Bay extended the lead to nine in the top of the fourth with a three-run home run, securing the win.

Beers and DeGram also registered hits for the Bonnies.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies are set to begin Atlantic 10 play Saturday, March 14 on the road at Rhode Island.
