First Pitch
St. Bonaventure travels to North Carolina this weekend, taking on Davidson in a weekend conference matchup. SBU is coming off an 11-2 midweek victory over Canisius that saw six different Bonnies record an RBI. Davidson enters the matchup on a three-game win streak, with their latest coming in the form of a 8-3 victory over Queens on Tuesday. First pitch for game one is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, and the series will wrap up on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
St. Bonaventure got out to an early lead and never looked back in Wednesday's non-conference win over Canisius. The Bonnies struck first in the third inning, bringing in two runs on RBI hits from Anthony Fernandez and Antonio Cordeiro. After the Golden Griffins evened the score in the top of the fourth, St. Bonaventure's offense broke out for multiple runs in the next three innings to capture an 11-2 victory. Derek Duval threw three scoreless innings in his second start of the year and Ryan Kucy, Mark Holm, and Joey Calabretti each had scoreless appearances out of the bullpen.

Hometown Pitching
The Bonnies played their first true home games of the season over the past week, enjoying a 4-1 to start the year at Handler Park, and the pitching staff is a big reason why. Through the five home games, the Bonnies' pitching staff has a 1.40 ERA, allowing just 34 hits and 13 walks through 45.0 innings. Over the five games, eight Bonnies' pitchers have thrown multiple innings and not allowed an earned run.

Dependable David
In his second season as a Bonnie, senior pitcher David James has been lights out. The right-hander ranks third among all qualifying pitchers in the conference with a 2.47 ERA, and fourth in the conference in hits allowed per nine innings (7.0). James was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for his complete game against George Washington last Thursday, and was the first Bonnie to throw a complete game shutout since 2018.

What a Difference a Year Makes
With a strong start to the year, St. Bonaventure has shown to be one of the most improved pitching staffs in the country. The Bonnies, who are third in team ERA in the Atlantic 10 (5.39), have improved their team ERA by over three runs. The staff is led by conference rotation starters David James, Nolan Feidt and Enger Paulino, who all rank within the top 20 for ERA in the conference thus far this spring.

First Win On The Hill
Senior pitcher Ryan Kucy recorded his first career win on the hill in Wednesday's win over Canisius. Kucy, who transitioned for a position player to a pitcher last season, ranks fourth on the team with a 3.72 ERA in eight appearances this season.
