DAYTON, Ohio – The St. Bonaventure University softball team fell to Dayton, 6-5, on the road Sunday afternoon in the series finale of a three-game Atlantic 10 series.
The Bonnies finally broke through on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning.
Kymora Wang led off the frame with a double before Grace Miller belted a two-run home run over the left field fence for the first runs of Sunday's series finale.
The Flyers, however, tied the game on a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth before taking their first lead of the game in the sixth, scoring on a sacrifice fly and a two-run single to take a 5-2 lead over the Bonnies.
With two outs in the top of the seventh with two runners on, Wang lined her second double of the day, clearing the bases and bringing the Bonnies back within one.
Next up was Miller who wasted no time, swinging at the first pitch and trading places with Wang for an RBI double that tied the game at 5-5.
Dayton would load the bases with no outs in the bottom half of the seventh before plating the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly.
Colsten Beers, Abigail Ahern, Lauren Dundon and Nolah Moyer also registered hits for the Bonnies.
Mackenzie Frani struck out three while scattering five hits in 4.1 innings of work.
