ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's basketball team has signed redshirt-freshman wing Akbar Waheed III, head coach
Mike MacDonald announced Wednesday (April 15). Waheed III was a four-star recruit out of high school before redshirting his freshman season at Boston College.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Akbar to our program," MacDonald said. "As he develops we think he can be an impactful player in the Atlantic 10. He had a great high school career at an excellent program and we are looking forward to him being a Bonnie!"
Waheed III played high school hoops for Georgetown Prep under head coach Howard Blue. He was named to the Washington Post's All-Met team twice, averaging 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior.
In the grassroots circuit, Waheed III represented Team Durant EYBL, a program that has produced NBA guards such as Jordan Hawkins and Dariq Whitehead. In 2025, he also played for the Capital All-Stars in the storied Capital Classic All-American game in the DMV.
