WASHINGTON, D.C. – St. Bonaventure senior women's lacrosse captain
Brooke Piper has earned Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week honors, conference officials announced Monday.
Â
The Aurora, Ontario native posted a historic performance this past Saturday in the Bonnies' dominating 19-9 road win over La Salle, setting two new single-game program records. With a total of 11 points coming from nine goals and two assists, Bona's all-time leading goal scorer further cemented her name into the team's record books.
Â
Piper bested the previous program record of 10 points in a single game which was held in a three-way tie by Destinee Johnson (2019 at Kent State), Katelyn Faas (2006 vs. Niagara) and Brenna Houghton (2008 at Marist). She also finished with the program's single-game goals record, which she already held at a mark of eight posted last year at VCU, along with Tracy Domm who accomplished the feat in 2002 vs. Le Moyne and Faas who netted eight scores in 2006 vs. Niagara.Â
Her nine goals in Saturday's win are the most by any Atlantic 10 player since 2023 and are tied for the most by any Division I player this season.
Â
Along with her record-setting scoring tallies, Piper added three draw controls as well as a pair of groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Â
Piper is the first player in program history to earn the conference's weekly offensive award three times in a single season. She earned the distinction on March 2 for her efforts against Robert Morris and Niagara before claiming it a second time on March 23 following stellar performances against Duquesne and Rhode Island. This week's award marks the fourth overall for her career.
St. Bonaventure (9-7, 5-3 A-10) has clinched a bid into the Atlantic 10 Tournament and will play for seeding when the Bonnies host George Washington this Saturday at the Marra Athletics Complex. First draw is set for noon.
